How is your weekend going?
I know everyone is pissed with INEC or Nigeria right now. Nigeria is so Fogg mehn….
Me, I’m already in Canada though; I’m writing this from my cheap hotel room in Canada, checking the internet for job vacancies and feeling inner peace.
This current issue actually made me understand that what Nigeria actually lacks is proper planning and not proper implementation.
Let’s get to today’s gist so that I can focus on my job hunt, shall we?
INEC Postpones Election On Election Day
I don’t think I have to say much, but maybe give you the reasons INEC gave for postponing the election this morning. In Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s words, ‘Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan and the determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections, the commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible’.
INEC is facing difficulty distributing sensitive electoral materials to some states. Actually, before the initial election date, some INEC offices in Plateau, Abia and Anambra were consumed by fire outbreaks, burning all the important materials in the building. I think these fire outbreaks weren’t accidents though.
Anyways, the elections have been rescheduled to hold on February 23 while the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections on March 9. Good for them but as for me, Canada is now my country. They can postpone it till next year if they want.
Demi Lovato Back In Rehab
Shortly after Demi was attacked on her social media for a post she made about 21Savage’s arrests by the ICE, she checked herself back into a rehabilitation centre in Hawaii last week. Demi had been doing well with recovery after she left rehab the first time in November after three months of treatment. She went in last year after she was hospitalized last July after an overdose at her home.
Stay strong Demi!
Was Jussie Smollett’s Attack Staged?
There has been news about the arrest of two suspects linked to the empire star’s homophobic attack. Though these two suspects have been released since there was nothing to charge them with, people have been questioning the attack and suspecting it to be staged. The two suspects were actually Nigerian brothers and actors (Abimbola ‘Abel’ and Olabinjo ‘Ola’) and are friends to Smollett. People suspect the attack was planned by the three friends to help drum up publicity to save Smollett’s acting role on empire because he was being written out of the show.
That’s all for today guys…
Have a nice weekend and don’t let Nigeria’s problem stop you from enjoying your weekend.
(……from Canada. Peace!)
