Reports have it that Nigerian breakthrough music star Omah Lay has been arrested by the police in Uganda for performing.

The event Omah Lay performed at last night was “The Big Brunch” Afrobeats Edition in Uganda. He shared some videos and pictures from the event via his Instagram account.

A Ugandan police official shared the news of Omah Lay’s arrest on Twitter. Somehow, the real reason behind his arrest was because Ugandan musicians protested on social media that they couldn’t perform in their country while Nigerian artistes flew in and performed. It seems that the government is yet to allow music concerts and big parties in Uganda due to COVID-19 guidelines.

He was arrested alongside the events manager and venue manger for the show.

In a recent tweet Omah Lay cleared the air about his arrest as fans because concerned about his welfare in Uganda.

In his tweet, the ‘Godly’ crooner mentioned that indeed he was arrested by the police in Uganda because of the show he performed at. He also allayed the fear of fans by telling them that everything would be ok.

“Yes I’m with the Ugandan police… something about the show from last night. Everything would be fine…”.

Apparently, Omah Lay was not the only Nigerian artiste arrested, Tems was who was also in Uganda was also arrested by the Police.
